This is another one of those listing updates, reflective of a day spent tidying-up loose ends.
We started at Ruddington, doing some unphotogenic work on the position-light signal on Ruddington release road, and nearby putting the finishing touches on those new clamp-locks: Protective covers for the hydraulic rams, and a crisp number on the soleplate.
Just opposite is the small bracket to release locomotives from the platform 1 headshunt. We laid a duct through the platform when it was installed, but left the small task of trimming and tidying the end where it exits the platform face, and providing a route for the cables down to ballast level. That is now ticked-off.
Then, after a brief diversion helping the DMU group with tarpaulins, we were delighted to be handed a period Coughtrie light (strictly 'luminaire', but not 'lamp') for Hotchley Hill. Regardless of lexical pedantry, it's perfect for the building in style and quality, and we are very grateful to the donor!
Meanwhile, the last stragglers of windowframe-painting were rounded-up, and we returned the supplementary bolts to the door at the top of the stairs.
Our resident landscaping expert sharpened his sickle, and was soon joined by both Edward and Willow in mowing the bank over the bottle ditch.
