This Saturday, we had a good turnout, and split into two groups at Ruddington. One to do this month's tidying up, and another to work on the new shunt signal on platform 1. Neither are particularly spectacular, so I've not got many photos to show, but both certainly needed doing.

On the platform, we had previously prepared a spot near the fence for the new signal, and moved the post there from the workshop. A steel frame was made, to hold four lengths of studding in a square, matching holes in the base of the post. This week, the frame was carefully positioned in the hole, before pouring concrete over it as a foundation.

In the yard, we continued last month's work on our outdoor storage areas. One of these in particular, is rather prone to puddles, being (one would think) about half an inch above the water table! Unsurprisingly, this means that the wooden pallets we store things on keep rotting. To address that, we dug a network of shallow channels, and built-up the lands between them with freely-draining ash.

We then collected some fresh pallets, and used them to stack up some of the more weather-tolerant pieces of equipment that we are unlikely to need in the next few years. Although this is only temporary (until they can be moved to long-term storage), it does free up a good deal of room under cover, which is badly needed for delicate electrical parts.
