Having taken a short break from these write-ups, we're back! That's not to say the work stopped though, so this covers the last couple of weeks.
With a pleasingly brisk turnaround (by our standards, at least!), a clamp-lock point machine is now going-in at the headshunt end of Ruddington platform two. We rounded up a complete set of parts, and gave them all a clean and check-up. The pump and detection covers have had a coat of paint, and the whole system is now coming together on the ground.
Down at Hotchley Hill, you'll be pleased to see that new nameboard is finally fitted for good. The design is very much a compromise with a view to vandalism, and low cost, but we don't think it looks too shabby.
At the same time, the polycarbonate for the small windowpanes arrived, and we gave it a try for fit. The locking room panes turned out to be just 2mm too wide, but that shouldn't be anything that can't be fixed with a sharp saw. We know from experience that the paint we've chosen for the frames performs much better when warm, so that will have to wait a week or two further into the spring. Once that's done, we'll put in the smaller panes, and see if there's anything we can learn and apply to the larger windows.
