Today, we wanted to push ahead with painting the windowframes at HH. A surprisingly large area to cover. Eyeing the weather forecast suspiciously, we decided to give it a go, working on the areas on the south side of the building, protected by the canopy from the chance of showers in the northerly wind.

Some of you will be recalling that that chance was borne out in the evening. A good thing it's sheltered and had an afternoon to start drying. Despite cutting things slightly closer than is prudent, we're really pleased with how much difference the change of colour makes to the place!

The purist will be pleased to note that the choice to paint the upstairs doorframes cream (rather than blue like the doors) matches the original scheme as opposed to that applied in the late 70s. Honestly, we just think it looks better that way.

Meanwhile back at base, there's been good progress on the Permaquip Trailer. The running gear, has been realigned so far as possible, and with a coat of paint, reassembled onto the frames. We've also refurbished and re-fitted the three(!) braking systems. In much the same style as its companion personnel carrier, the hydraulics share several components with ordinary cars of the period, which makes finding spares rather easier.

There's plenty more to be painting, so we are hoping the weather becomes a little more summer-like shortly!

Footnote:  Also included in this week's photos, a set of three mounting holes in the plaster over the north door.  My guess is that this was for a clock, of a relatively bulky type predating the building.  Can anyone comment on the plausibility of that explanation?
