Following the summer-holiday-season, we've been a bit short of volunteers, but this week were delighted to welcome two more to the team.

Thanks to the LNER(GC) Heritage Trust and its supporters, we have been able to purchase a high-security door for the battery room on the north side of the signalbox. Separated from the rest of the building by a solid brick wall, this has been an empty, unloved alcove for many years.

Our new recruits quickly showed their worth, fetching the new door from the van, and getting to grips with the kit of fixings. Despite the opening in the wall being out-of-square (of course) - and the bricks demonstrating their remarkable resistance to expensive masonry drills - the door was fitted. A job well done.

On the other side of the building, more established members of the team gave the bank and ditch its last mow of the year; it's looks much better now.

The next big job is, still, rebuilding the floor upstairs - and we need your help! The LNER(GC) Heritage Trust are collecting funds to purchase the timber, fittings and consumables we need to get the job done - and we'd love to make a start before the end of the year. Any support is very much appreciated!
