Today was a bit damp, to say the least. We stayed at Ruddington, and got on with a number of small tasks.

First among these, rescuing a pair of miniature "stencil" route indicator boxes that belong to the station release road, and preparing them for proper installation. Much of the prep for these has already been carried-out, with new stencilled glass ready and waiting. We scrubbed-down the boxes and primed the bare aluminium, ready for painting next week.

Work continues on our Permaquip trailer, which is back on its wheels with rebuilt hydraulics. This last week has seen some adjustment of the side panels - but I'm not the best qualified person to describe all that.

In the afternoon, we did our bit for clearing-up the workshop, and collected a few boxes of old telephone equipment from a dusty corner. The sort of thing that is junk until you need it!

Last, the long-overdue job of securing a plank over the rungs of the access ladder to one of our signals at Ruddington. We got a tip-off that an intruder had climbed up there and managed to pull down one of the fittings during the week, and we felt this is a situation where a prompt, simple improvement can make a big difference to safety and security.
