With a good turnout, we tackled another swath of jobs around Ruddington today.

In the station,  another clamp-lock body was carefully fitted to the Platform 2 release points as illustrated. The next parts to fit are the stretchers, so we dove into the stores van, and picked out a set of four bullhead "shoes" to be prepared during the week.

Around the station throat, and at Asher Lane, we had identified three more signal ladders at risk of abuse by trespassers. We made and fitted three more deterrent covers for the rungs, and removed a traffic cone from the roof of the crossing-keeper's cabin. No doubt somebody thought it was funny.

Preparation of those stencil boxes for the release road continues. We ended up taking the back covers down to bare metal, as there was some corrosion hidden behind the old paint. Like so many others, a project that spends weeks on the workbench, but will come together in an afternoon.

Even more parts for the Permaquip trailer have been acquired, including bundles of planks, and some new hydraulic fittings.  Some of the team not particularly involved in the matching Personnel carrier were given a quick tour of the progress to date. It looks set to be a very useful machine.

We've seen a real step-forward in efforts to clear up the site and sheds at Ruddington in recent weeks, and it's great to see the numbers of active on-site volunteers increasing.
