This week has seen a huge step forward in the restoration of Hotchley Hill box, the installation of the upstairs windows.

Firstly, a huge thanks must be given to those who donated back in December and January, without you this simply would not have been possible.

Despite initial progress being slow, we quickly got in the groove so to speak, with most of the panes going in with minimal adjustments. Before we even knew it all panes were in. Since only three of us went down we were fully expecting to have to split the work across two days’ worth of work; so, to say we were chuffed would be an understatement.

This now means that the interior of the building is now protected from the elements, especially as winters are getting harsher and harsher. More importantly it paves the way for future interior restoration. Finally, it protects the interior from further incursion and damage from vandals, as we are all very keen to avoid a repeat of what was seen this time last year.
