A small turnout today - and with an eye on the pandemic - we were keen not huddle too close together, or all travel together in a car to H.H. We stayed at Ruddington, where there is always plenty to do.
Firstly, we brushed-down and lit up the stove in the signalbox. Not so much because it's needed yet, but it will be, and it's worth checking things are serviceable ahead of time. It hasn't been used for two years.
Outside, the drives for the double-slip received some attention. Regreased and reassembled, the 'A' end now swings easily.
Finally, what must be the perfect "social distancing" task; carrying lengths of point rodding, one man at each end. These have been piled in the long grass for long enough for seeds to start sprouting. They're now held up clear of the mud in a top secret location next to a brick wall.
Next week looks set to be similar. Not the most ambitious work - but better than nothing!
